Future Milk

The Aurivo Future Milk Sustainability Programme aims to incentivise our farmers in the adoption of environmentally friendly actions on their farms that reduce farm greenhouse gas emissions and improve water quality in the Aurivo catchment area.

The programme includes one compulsory measure which is to compete the Bord Bia Sustainability survey annually giving us the most up to date figures on the carbon footprint of our milk pool and six elective measures, of which farmers must complete a minimum of three each year to attain the sustainability bonus payment.

Farm Profitability Programme

Since 2014 the Farm Profitability Programme, delivered in conjunction with Teagasc has supported our farmers by providing the latest technical advice through farm walks, discussion groups, articles, videos and newsletters to support our farmers produce high quality milk in an environmentally and financially sustainable manner.

Winter Milk Programme

As Ireland’s second largest liquid milk co-operative with over 25% of our milk pool dedicated to the liquid milk market, the Winter Milk Programme aims to provide our farmers with tailored technical advice for this specialised production system.

This is delivered through farm workshops, technical notes and articles as well as informational videos.

Water Quality: ASSAP/Farming For Water EIP

Through our Farm Profitability and Sustainability team, water quality visits are offered to all Aurivo suppliers with funding now available for farmers to implement actions to enhance water quality in our areas.

The Farming for Water project strives to drive improvements in water quality while simultaneously benefiting climate change mitigation and biodiversity protection.
This is delivered through the adoption of innovative nutrient management practices and the implementation of targeted actions specific to local challenges.

Signpost Programme – farmers for Climate Action

Working in conjunction with Teagasc and Aurivo Signpost Programme Focus Farms the overall aim of the programme is to empower farm families to adopt technologies and production systems that will allow agriculture to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030 while maintaining farm profitability.

Aurivo/Senus Soil Carbon Programme

Established in 2023, the Soil Carbon Programme aims to capture long term changes in soil carbon stocks, providing real time, verified data on carbon sequestration on soils in the Aurivo region.

It also aims to explore the potentials around carbon farming in the future as well as to inform farmers on how the management practices adopted at farm level manipulate soil carbon stocks on our farms over time.

Aurivo Farm Solar Programme

The Aurivo Farm Solar Programme, in collaboration with PV Generation is a turn-key solution to solar PV for our farmers.

Installing Solar PV technology is helping our farmers to produce renewable energy within the farm gate, lower their electricity bills and ultimately reduce the carbon footprint of our farms making them more sustainable. For more information visit www.aurivo.ie/farmsolar.

Aurivo/ABP Dairy Beef Programme

In collaboration with ABP and their Advantage Beef Programme, this initiative works with both dairy and beef farmers throughout the supply chain with the aim of improving the beef characteristics, enhancing animal health and lowering slaughter age to reduce lifetime carbon emissions from dairy beef production systems.

This programme creates links between dairy and beef farmer and right through to beef processor to maximise efficiencies within the system.

Succession/Land Mobility Service
